hockey India strike ,

Hockey India on Tuesday issued an ultimatum to the striking players and threatened to select a fresh team for next month's World Cup if the boycott of practice sessions over a payment dispute continued.

Accusing the players of being greedy, Hockey India president A.K. Mattoo said: "The players can either accept our terms or quit. We will appoint a fresh team and ensure our participation in the World Cup if the players don't relent."

"We will disband the preparatory camp (in Pune) for two days and select probables from around the country if the players continue with their boycott," Mattoo said after talks between Hockey India and the players failed.

The players are demanding incentives for their performances in 2009 and also want a gradation system in place. But Hockey India has maintained it does not have funds to meet the demands.
