82nd Oscar award Nominations announced
The nominations for the 82nd Academy Awards are announced today at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California, by Tom Sherak, president of the Academy, and actress Anne Hathaway. The long wait for the award nominations ended and James Cameron's Science-fiction adventure "Avatar" and Kathryn Bigelow's war movie "The Hurt Locker" earned highest nine Oscar nominations each, which includes best Motion Picture and best Director in the competition for the world's highest film honors. Other films which got a good recognition in the front line nominations were Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds and Jason Reitman's Up in the Air.
Also Ex-Academy president Sid Ganis announced at a press conference that the 2010 ceremony will feature ten Best Picture nominees instead of five. So the competition for the Best Motion Picture will be much tougher this time.
